Jonathon D. Truwit, MD, joined Froedtert Health and The Medical College of Wisconsin on Jan. 13, 2014, as enterprise chief medical officer. Dr. Truwit also holds the rank of tenured professor of medicine (pulmonary) at the Medical College.
As enterprise CMO, Dr. Truwit is responsible for the development, management and implementation of a strategy and vision to improve enterprise quality and safety outcomes across the continuum of care, improve physician alignment and satisfaction and lead evidence-based programs, practices and activities that deliver results. Additionally, he will provide leadership and expertise for clinical quality and safety, disease management, care coordination, clinical integration and the overall patient experience, and play an integral role in expanding the health system's clinical footprint.
Dr. Truwit was formerly professor of medicine with tenure, chief medical officer and senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Dr. Truwit received a BSE from Duke University School of Engineering in 1979, his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1983, and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 2009. Dr. Truwit served his internship and residency in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1983-1986. He completed a fellowship in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1986-1989. Dr. Truwit is currently certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and holds subspecialty certifications with the ABIM in Critical Care and Pulmonary. His peers also have selected him to be included in Best Doctors in America annually since 2005.
